The user can create and modify sound waves to mimic, intensify, hush, and distort as well warp, strengthen, echo, speed up, and slow down sound. Can affect music as well as produce it.
If raised to a high enough frequency, the manipulation also works on sonic levels, giving him more abilities outside of sound. Creations of a bomb like explosion, the high frequency, if thrown together, can create a deafening sonic boom like explosion to render enemies defenseless for a minute or two.
Rei, being at such an early state with his abilities still, can create a high frequency, deafening noise so far, but nothing on the levels of an explosion.
He can also create a small, simple form of regeneration, which is called Enhanced Regeneration, by vibrating nerve endings in the body to heal. He can't heal anything large or fatal, but can heal cuts, bruises, and minor bone fractures.
His hearing is enhanced ten fold, and he can almost use an echolocation type ability, but it's weak, and only works for short distances.

►h i s t o r y: Having grown up on the west coast if the United States, he grew up with parents who were never on the best of terms. His parents had arguments quite often, not usually giving a fuck if Rei was present or not. This lead to him having a bit of no self control and minor anger issues going to school, starting very early.
His father worked as a business man, a very generic job. He went to the office in the morning, came home in the evening. He wasn't down in a lame cubicle working terrible hours on a phone, he was a department manager, bringing home a good sum each month. His mother worked as an overseas travel agent. She mostly worked with Asian locations, giving her good knowledge of the areas.
In school, he got into minor fights, nothing serious, and never paid attention in class. He was your basic highschool rebel kind of kid. He wasn't the most well known dude, and most popular, but he had a few select friends. These couple of kids were the kind to keep him out of trouble, make excuses, keep others quiet, etc. He wasn't int he best of crews. Because of the situation at home, he was, at times, self harming. He took a lot of his frustrations out through cutting. He always kept the cuts hidden from his family and friends with various bracelets and a watch.
One night at home, his parents finally had a physical fight. This caused Rei to shove himself in between them, which, well, left Rei with a very sore jaw as his father had thrown a punch as soon as Rei appeared. Even though unintentional, that was the turning point. Rei and his mother packed up and she filed for a divorce. She took custody over Rei and flew their asses to the island, now residing in Miura City. They found a nice small, not TOO cramped place within the China Town district, small enough so they could raise and save money for food and expenses. They didn't need anywhere big, just a roof over their heads.
Rei continued to go to school, now attending North Star High school. He never made a new set of friends, and even sometimes now he still writes to them. He wasn't too young, and had already known some of the language as well. Since his mother worked with the language for so long, she did teach him some as he was growing up. It wasn't enough to get past by shoving him into high school suddenly, but he'll adapt.
By his last year, he found himself in Mr. Bristow's english class, which, to his benefit, would become one of the best coincidences to happen. Mr. Bristow would become a good friend of his after some trials and errors, basically like all of Rei's relationships. He didn't know many people around, mostly kept to himself in this new neighborhood at first, keeping the house tidy and cooking when his mother was working. When he did have his free time, he was out, looking for something to do. He didn't even know WHAT to do in the area, it was all so different, strange, foreign, and unreal to him. He still couldn't accept the sudden move, and even now it sometimes haunts him. That fight.
He did meet one kid, actually not a kid considering he was older than Rei, named Dennis. A bit quiet, to himself, kind of reminded Rei of himself. Someone he teased on occasion when he saw him, nothing too serious or rude, just fun.
Rei had stopped cutting now, his wrists wrapped with a light thin bandage to keep the scars from triggering him to do it again.
He was already graduated from high school when the incident happened, it was all so fast and he doesn't even really remember much of it. All that really continues to haunt him is the disappearance of his mother. He doesn't know if she's dead, alive, dying, hurt, anything. There was a lot of death during the time, sickness, injured, hospitalized people becoming overwhelming.
Even to this day he doesn't know anything about the whereabouts of his mother, but he really hasn't asked around much. He fears the truth and doesn't want to know if she's dead or not. He still hopes she's alive and hopes to find her again.

He hasn't since, but the power he's aquired have perked his interest about the whole thing. -He has a history of self-harm, so his pain tolerance is a bit higher than normal. -He hides his emotions. -He now lives in a small apartment like area paying rent. -The area is owned by his boss where he works. -He works as a mechanic.
Having moved to the island at a young age, Rei was still enrolled at the local highschool. During his time there, he had the pleasure of meeting a young, foreign English Teacher, Mr. Bristow. Being the kid he is, he was rather disobedient, but Bristow didn't punish him, or scold him, he was very sly with his responses, more or less taunting Rei rather than stopping him. After a while, they did start talking more, becoming acquaintances. Rei began to rely on the English teacher, getting him through school with spectacular grades, and a longterm tudor/friend he could rely on, even with their differences.
When he moved to the island, he and his mother moved into the small town they liked to label China Town. Besides his school life, he never really was the social type, but he did happen to see another who sparked his interest. A shorter, actually older, kid by the name of Dennis. They've never been on the best of terms, when Rei wasn't acting up in school, he decided, why the hell not, lets mess with the kid. Even though Dennis has moved from China town now, he occasionally visits the district sometimes for his grandfather, giving Rei time to try and mess with his favourite little plaything. They're not on the best of terms, I can tell you that.
